Does anybody know if the warranty sticker contains a barcode or are they personalised? I want to transfer a sticker from one 360 to a 3 rrod 360, I'm sort of paranoid that the sticker is registered to the serial code.
Thanks

Thanks for you replies. It seems stupid of ms not to have a barcode on the sticker... i might even just scan the sticker and print it on to a blank one.

not sure if scanning the sticker will work, but I bought a sticker off ebay for ten dollars, put it on my modded rrod 360 (whose fans stopped working) and they just sent me an email saying the 360 is on its way back! worked perfectly XD

Okay, i've printed a few out, they look pretty much identical to the real one... I just need to take them to work to get a better print quality. I'll try sending the 360 in with one... but i had to change the brightness of the scan (that reflective square in the bottom right corner is annoying) to get it to match.

I'll post some pics when done, it's just that number underneath microsoft, it gets blurred when i print it to the right size... I might just take it to a professional printing store to get them to scan/print.

are you talking about the silver plastic stickers or the newer green paper stickers? i don't know how you plan on replicating the silver ones since its more like a liquid stamp w/a piece of plastic on it. as far as the green ones it sounds reasonable but i think you only get those after sending it in for repair, and i'm sure they would know if it had been repaired before. i think your best bet would be to buy a sticker.
as far as taking them off thor just use a hair dryer heat it up and peel back very slowly a razor or sharp knife. keep heat on it as your taking it off and just do it really slow.

It's a new paper one... the 360 has been repaired by ms before, the warranty sticker is ripped (by previous owner) so i doubt ms will accept it. I kind of wish it was the old silver stickers, they seem easier to copy, the new ones have this scan protection thing, that makes that face in the background come up a dark purple oolour, i've been able to get it so close, but those numbers come up really blurry.

That black dot, as well as the "microsoft" along the edge both "run" like ink when heated, I read elsewhere heat is not even needed, just use a razor blade, got a few of those around I think sniff-sniff

I have a refurb and there's no black dot, but I have seen one's like that, I guess they didn't have any when I got mine repaired. The ink doesn't really run, it doesn't get hot enough. It would be almost impossible to remove it w/o heat.

Well, I've got 2 here (my first 2 tries) that would prove otherwise... you don't need heat, just carefully take up an edge w/ a razor blade, then slowly pull it off, I like to run that blade VERY LIGHTLY across where they meet, you'll notice in spots it starts to leave a strand, if unabated that strand will grow and pull sticker with it. Thanks, MS, I can finally use my hairdryer for more important purposes!

When I took my console apart the first time they had the sticker set in a pretty bad spot and it just kinda fell off on it's own.

Hy, I'm noticing they don't like to stick to wax paper, what is a good method or reattatching them to the console when the time comes?

LOL i recently opened a 360 to flash and i didnt even had to take the warrenty sticker off. It was barely sticking on the left side of the 360 cover.

All i had to do was pull it up and it came right off withour ripping the sticker.

lol, that sticker is upside down, the semicircle should be the bit near the edge... the stickers are placed by hand, so the position differs.

hey, i have a new console and i took off my sticker with a playing card and a hair dryer, the sticker may have taken a purplish color. and the white box filled out in a somewhat pink.
does this also void my warranty? i saw a pic of one on this thread that looks like mine.

See, right there! I noticed these things as well. I bet they'd be more than happy to void your warranty w/ these discrepancies! The only reason I have for COMPLETELY removing the sticker would be to use on other consoles, if you are merely trying to maintain the sticker on one machine then yes just take off enough like in the pics above - and USE NO HEAT!!! Use my method instead! NOW how to replicate the specific adhesive qualities of said sticker... And guy are you 100% sure you got a rehab from MS w/ no visible black dot in the box? Your honest answer will help others... Really, its sad that we have to resort to such methods to get MS to stand behind their product; I have had to resort to these measures on more than one occasion now and none of those reasons were I opened it to flash the drive, all have been due to changes in their warranty policy and how it applies to my lot of returned 360's purchased from a big box store, that I personally attempted to repair and could not due to material and engineering defects, the only reason I tried in the first place is because IT WASN'T COVERED lol.
