Okay, I've been trying to flash my Hitachi 59dj for over a week now with no success. I have all the latest in Ixtreme, jungle flasher, I'm running on a 32bit system, .Net Framework is up to date, VT6421A card is installed, and all that Jazz. After days of trial and error I have finally got jungle flasher to assign me a drive letter by doing a new hardware search after setting my Hitachi in mode B using Jungle Flasher. I literally thought I was a few clicks away from finally flashing my drive until the following error occurred.
"Ram upload dump failed"

I have checked my system since the above error and it still plays orig games and dvd's so I didn't brick the drive at least. I don't really know where to go from here, any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated~! Thanks, jay

Have you tried other modes? Classic or Mode Select? If Ram method fails one of those usually works. I believe I couldn't get Ram method to work but Mode Select worked for me.

Cant get "Mode select" to work either, still comes up with "dump failed" every time. This picture I have posted above is the closest I've got, now it wont make it past the first step. Dump just fails and that's that.....This really cant be as difficult as it seems. I've bought 2 sata cards, and 3 sata cables in an effort to fix any communication problems the drive and pc might be having, but nothing works. I really cant understand how JF can detect the proper port information, give me a proper drive letter, and set mode B correctly in like 0.5 seconds, yet any other communication seems to fail? I'm one of those people that when I start something I really like to finish it, so this is literally eating me alive~! haha, any further help would be greatly appreciated,

Jay

Try using Firmware Toolbox. I have had a little more success with it than JF as far as Hitachi's go.

Okay, will give that a try, but doesn't that come with Ixtreme 1.4~? How do I get it to flash with 1.51~? Either way, some progress is better than none so I will give it a shot and let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the tip~!

Prepare your firmware with Jungle Flasher. Never use Firmware Toolbox to make your firmware.

(Sn0man1)I did, that was actually my first choice with the drivers installed for my Sata card. I still get the same "Dumping flash:...Ram Upload Dump Failed". It took me a while to even try portIO since I couldn't get a drive letter to show in windows with the drivers uninstalled.

(Leerage)How exactly do I create my own firmware with Jungle Flasher? Open my Orig firmware under the FirmwareTool32 tab with load source firmware then my Ixtreme 1.51 as target firmware press spoof source to target and save the new firmware bin.? Just a guess, but as wrong as I feel like I've been so far, there's no tellin :)

Thanks all for the comments,
Jay
