Here are the drive specs:

Model No. - "DG-16D2S"
Manufactured - "September,2008"
HW Ver - "A0A1"
FW Ver - "74850C"
"Phillips & Lite-on Digital Solutions Corporations"

I have the console opened and I have an SATA ports on my motherboard. What do I do next?

Am I correct to say I cannot flash this drive without a chip? :/

the drive can beflashed and the directions are on this website
in fact ill give you a hint where to find it.
what you are looking for is the ultimate answer, it could be a stickyat the top of the front page but by all means read the rules 1st
