Hey all, I have a few questions on managing WADs, it'd be helpful if someone could answer them but here's some info first.

- I have a USA/NTSC Wii on 4.0

- I have HBC and DVDx installed from BannerBomb on 4.0. I used the method of downgrading and then installing IOS35 (with Comex's DVDx installer) + installing CIOSv7, I also installed the patched IOS60 for WADs to be played off the SD Card Menu.

Now my questions:

- Which IOS on WAD Manager 1.4 should I install my WADs off of. Would it be IOS35 since my downgrading/installing had to do with that?

- Am I now safe to install WADs

- What is IOS36 for? Do I need to install it for anything? Again, I have CIOSv7.

- How do you uninstall WADs on WAD Manager 1.4?

- About Tickets and Nintendo's ability to see them through the (probably now former Shop Channel) and current Nintendo Channel: Say I move a WAD to the SD Card Menu w/ out copying, do the tickets move with it or stay on the Wii System Memory? What about if I want to move it back to the Wii menu, would uninstalling it through WAD Manager get rid of everything normally including tickets and directory/all info on the WAD.

Could someone please help? Forgot to add: CIOSv7 was installed on IOS35. Can I still do backup launcher? Would I have to install CMIOS the same way (for GC Backups).

You should use 249.
Downgrading IOS35 was so that you could install cIOSrev7 aka IOS249 (well not exactly) but cIOSrev7 installs to IOS249 and basically becomes your IOS249.
If you didn't downgrade IOS35 you probably would have gotten ret=-2011.

Are you safe to install wads? You are safe if the wads are safe. The stuff you have done (being on 4.0, using bannerbomb, using HBC, downgrading IOS35, installing cIOSrev7) doesn't make it dangerous to install wads.

You don't need to install IOS36. IOS36 is an official IOS as opposed to cIOS. If you are on 4.0 then you already have IOS36. You may have heard about IOS36 because the homebrew channel ran off of it before version 1.0.2 and 1.0.3. HBC 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 run off of IOS61 (same as shop channel) if you're on 4.0 and 51 if you are on 3.4

Also cIOSrev7 is based on IOS36. It's full name is Custom IOS 36 Revision 7 (which as mentioned before installs to IOS249)

There is an option to uninstall wads in wad manager 1.4. I can't recall verbatim exactly what you are supposed to do but it isn't hard to find. I think that when you see install wad you just switch it to uninstall using the d-pad. In Wad Manager 1.3 I think you used the + button to install and the - button to uninstall.

Nintendo won't see your tickets through the channel. They will see them if you send in your Wii and they are still on there. You might want to turn off sending data to Nintendo through the Nintendo channel though.
Uninstalling with wad manager removes tickets.

Also cIOSrev7 wasn't installed to IOS35, you just used IOS35 to install it. It installed to IOS249.

Yes you can do backup launcher. If you want to do USB Loader you will have to update to at least Rev9 (Rev7 is pretty old) although you should probably update further than that. Your choices are Rev9, Rev10, Rev12, Rev13, Rev13b
I can't even think of all the issues between them right now and what is fixed and broken between them but I will say that I am using 13 and you'll probably want to use either 12 or 13 (leaning towards 13)

Edit: It just came to me while I was typing in another thread (so weird I know :) I originally planned to say it but I got sidetracked somehow) Please don't uninstall the patched IOS60 with wadmanager. You might as well remove the IOS60 wad from your SD card so no "accidents" happen. Uninstalling IOS60 with wadmanager will brick your Wii and not a minor brick either... major brick.
I can't think of any reason to do it except if you want to demonstrate how Bootmii and a backed up nand can recover a bricked Wii.
You might want to check it out http://www.bootmii.org

First of all, I want to say a big thank you to you for your helpful information man. Oh and don't worry, I didn't install the patched IOS60 as a WAD. I used a separate boot.dol installer so it's all good.

Which CIOS do you recommend? I mean I don't plan on using a USB device any time soon because I don't have an external HDD at the moment and I'm not hardcore about backups of ISOs and ISOs on a USB device. I just want to do some WADs of some SNES games I actually own because I don't want want to hook up my SNES with a coax every time (plus it's in bad shape). As for backups, I merely want to try some games and then actually buy them because I for one will not deal with faulty or risky backups.

I'd go with 13. Everything that you want to do should work it. Though everything you want to do should work with most of the cIOSes.

And I understand what you mean about the SNES.
Mine is still alive as well. The reset button just doesn't work.

One last thing, my friend:

What if I wanted to downgrade my CIOS? Would any installation overwrite any other CIOS no matter what the version was? Such as if I wanted to go from 13 to 10 for example. (Just saying).

Do I need to install IOS36-64-v1042.wad before I install ANY CIOS or am I safe?

cIOS revsions 4-13 will all overwrite the previous one you had installed. You can move freely backwards and forwards between them. The early ones 1-3 (which are based on IOS37 as opposed to 36 and 38) are the ones that need a more manual method.

And you don't need to install that wad before installing a cIOS you can just use one of the installers because with the first cIOS your foot is in the door.

I think I'll go with CIOSv10. Do I have to rename the file to boot.dol and put it in it's own app folder? What CIOS do you recommend?

10 is fine.
And yeah, installers go in their own folder in the app folder and you have to rename the .dol file to boot.dol

You can delete the folder if you want afterward.

Thank you so much man, you've been a great help for me this whole time and I'm now satisfied in all I need to do Wii soft-mods.
