I have been trying to fix my samsung drive that had a bad flash (wont eject, E65 error missing firmware). I have netframework 2.0 and portIO32 installed. I have a mother board with 4 SATA ports. 1 is being used for my computer harddrive. I used another for my xbox.

I went into the BIOS and turned "on" all of the sata ports. when running any of the programs, jungle flasher, dosflash, iprep 008.8, it seems to not see my xbox.

for example, I run iprep 008.8 and boot from USB. type fsam 1234567 12345 and it comes up with 4 IDE options. 2 being my computer harddrive and computer cd/dvd drive. the other 2 are none. How can I get any programs to see my xbox? do I need to do something else in BIOS or prep my ports somehow?

When you boot to iPrep, don't type dSam. Type:

dosflash.exe

and it should list all your SATA ports.

yeah I did that too typing dosflash.exe, but it listed:

0) 0x01F0 IDE Pri Master ATAPI HL-DT-ST GCE-8487B F109
1) 0X01F0 IDE Pri Slave ATAPI HL-DT-ST DVD+/-RW GWA4164B E113

resend command until drive responds (Y/N)? I HIT "N" OF COURSE

2) 0X0170 IDE Sec Master None
3) 0x0170 IDE Sec Slave None

Enter number of ATAPI drive:

This is the gist of my screen, but there is some more information about the drives, but I dont think its important. I can take a picture if necessary, but I dont know what to do.

In your BIOS is there a setting for SATA that you can change from Enhanced, Normal, or Legacy. Something along those lines...

Maybe try disabling the RAID feature.

Hey, I finally got my friends computer to boot from USB and see my xbox. I changed the BIOS setting to "RAID AUTODETECT / ATA ". I assume this is what finally got it recognized. Regardless, thanks for your help, but now it is back to some type of firmware. It does not read burned games, but will read original games. So, I would still like to put ixtreme 1.6 on there. Jungle flasher wont put it into vendor mode and iprep says "unknown flash chip". What should I use to get ixtreme 1.6?

If you get the unknown flash chip when you are trying to (W) write, power cycle the Samsung and start from dosflash.exe again.

i forced it into vendor mode by holding tray half way and powering on. When i do dsam (reading samofw.bin) it loads firmtool and reports no valid key found. when i do fsam (read samcfw.bin) it says ok for all 4 banks and says writing finished! DataSum:774A. However, i turn it off and try a burned game and it does not play. Do i have a bad firmware file? and can i get a good one?

Check the key range of BACKUPS\1111111 11111\SamOFW.BIN

That is exactly what is displayed.

So did you let firmtool proceed and flash SAMCFW.bin to your Samsung?

Im not sure if firmtool ran since it gave that error for a valid key. However, I did continue and wrote samcfw.bin to the samsung. I just dont know what samcfw.bin went to the samsung since it does not play backup games it must not be correct.

You should be using the 6421 card to flash so you know it's not your board. I did have a similar issue a while back and had to replace the board on the DVD drive to correct the issue. If you have the orginial keys, you'll be fine.

I finally got it. I really dont know what the issue was, but I kept trying and maybe did something slightly different than before, but I just kept forcing it to vendor mode and to try and do what I needed and eventually it allowed me. There is one issue, that it erased and wrote all the banks with no error, but when it did a read verification it started to show .....xxxxxx on like bank 2 or 3. But the burned games work. is that alright?
