Is it possible to use the SD card as a saving slot for gamecube games? Or do I have to buy a GC memory card?

No.. you need the GC memory card. you can by cheap here.

Wow, i wish i would have known that fiber32 lol. I just bought one of those old Animal Crossing included memory cards for 10 bucks lol.
