I have a soft mod wii. Upgraded from 3.2U to 4.0U today. I first tried the method in the thread "NEW AND IMPROVED WII SOFTMOD GUIDE ! "
(url=http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/773505)here(/url).
As I was already soft modded, all i did was use the wii to automatically grab firmware 4.0. I then did the ios60patch and the ios downgrader. Yes that worked for keeping homebrew working, but it killed my ability to play backups from the disc channel. No good for me, i need that option.
So i then went ahead and went with this other threads method "Guide: How to Launch Backup Games From Disc Channel On 4.0 Firmware. " located (url=http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/777675)here(/url). After following the directions, everything was all good. Disc channel plays backups just fine.
But......
I also want to install Hackmii installer v0.2 to that i can install and run bootmii as well. During the install though, it says
"the installer can NOT continue. there is no known vulnerable IOS installed on this wii"
Per teh bootmii website, it's because CIOScorp sucks and there mod won't work with it.
So what do so that I can have a hacked Wii with disc playback from the disc channel and still be able to install bootmii?

if you can't install as boot2, which is recommended, AND you can't do a IOS install, you're stuck.
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure
got a whole lot more to list . . .

I imagine I just need to get rid of CIOScorp... but how would that be accomplished?
Treading on thin water here since I don't want to brick without having a nand backup first. I do have preloader installed though so if I do brick I should still have some options.

The reason Bootmii can't find a vulnerable IOS to patch is do to cIOSCorp. This is why in my guide (that installs cIOSCorp) I say to install Bootmii before following the guide.
This is what you can do.
Go HERE and follow this guide again.
First follow the Step 2: Run AnyRegionChanger 1.1 M5 (Launch it using HBC). section of the guide.
Downgrading to 3.2 firmware should overwrite any cIOSCorp files that have been installed.
After you downgrade to 3.2 firmware run the Bootmii installer. It should let you install it now and not give you the no vulnerable IOS error.
After you install Bootmii you can then finish the rest of the guide to get back to the point you are now.

No it will not install if you have cIOSCorp installed.
You will need to update to 4.1 firmware.
Install IOS60Patched.wad.
Run IOS Downgrader.
At this time you should be able to install Bootmii.
Install Preloader .29.
Install cIOSCorp.
Install CIOS60BF.wad
Then Reinstall Preloader .29 again.
You should now be updated to 4.1 firmware with everything that you had before working and Bootmii installed.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Do I need to remove preloader .28 first? Does this include and program I may have installed thru Preloader?
Thanks so much again in advance

i followed all of larry's instructions without a problem, then i tried to back up my "nand" using "bootmii", i got 5 factory bad block markers at blocks 974,1121,1720,1911,2015 then the progress bar froze after a minute or so
i had to shutdown down with the power button,
i tried it five times already and it keeps freezing at the same place(halfway through the backup)
btw i'm using a 2gb SD card
