Issues w/ my Metal Gear Solid Rip

I recently came across a copy of Metal Gear Solid for the PSX and tried to rip it so i could play it on my PSP. Well, I got past the issue of switching discs and the game worked fine, up until the first encounter with Meryl, at which point the game freezes with a black screen right before the cinematic and a disc icon appears in the top right corner of the screen. Now, I recognize the disc icon from playing on the PSX. Could anyone help my with this, and as to why this could be happening and what I could do to fix it
