I usually rip original dvd's to avi's to add to my external hard drive to play on my ps3 but i have come across 2 dvd's that i cannot get to work. I use dvd shrink then autogk to rip to avi and have not had any problems with dvd's in the past except the longest yard and click. When i reauthor it with dvd shrink it still said it was to big to fit on a disc and when i put it through autogk it gives me a sync delay during the process of 70,639ms delay. I thought this was maybe because it was too big to fit on a disc but i tried putting it through clone dvd to shrink it to a size that would fit on a disc then ran it through autogk again but it is still giving the same sync delay. I noticed people have these films as torrent downloads so they must have been able to rip them from dvd to avi so i have no idea why i am having problems. The only thing i have noticed is that the dvd's are dual layer and i do not have a dual layer writer but if i use clone dvd it makes it a perfect dvd 5 size but i am still getting issues with autogk giving me the sync delay. Is it maybe because autogk cannot cope with dual layer dvd's? If anyone has any idea what could be wrong i'd be grateful for their help, thanks.

You sure you got a good rip?..I do love and use DVD Shrink, however maybe you should use a newer always updated ripper, like DVDFab HD Decrypter for instance..
And there are other DVD to avi converting apps as well..Give AviDemux a spin..
If you don't want to re-rip, then import the avi in Avidemux and try to line up by using the Audio Shift(ms) tool..

What are the titles of the two dvd's that you're having trouble with?

1. use the free dvdfabhddecryter to rip your dvd into an ISO.
2. next use the free fairuse wizard lite to turn that ISO into an AVI.

Fairuse wizard has never given me an video/audio sync problem in over 100 conversions. It is the best converter available.

Your problem is with dvdshrink, it is only useful for shrinking dvd's, not ripping them. If the original dvd isn't encryted dvdshrink will work fine with it, but if it's encryted use dvdfab. Dvdfab won't shrink your dvd but the files it produces can be shrunk with dvdshrink.

The weird thing is i use dvd shrink and autogk all the time i have ripped loads of dvds using this method and i have never had any issues atall.I was going to use your method with fair use wizard but every file i download seems to have adware inside. I use an online maleware scanner to check all my files i download just incase they are infected this is what the scanner found in the fair use wizard files

Kooka when you use autogk it lines up the audio for you but cause the sync is so bad i am not sure it can be fixed but i will give avidemux a try

You can also use handbrake to convert your video_ts folder to avi format.

http://handbrake.fr/?article=download

I had done Click and The Longest Yard a while back using dvdfab 4xxxx, so the lastest dvdfab should have no trouble with it.

If you have the Mobile Option in DvdFab you can rip the movie to Generic/.avi.
