I have been trying to get this installed and configured correctly- and my 10yo is becoming a little impatient with me as up to date i still have this not working correctly.
I want it to boot automatically so that said son can just place his backups in the ps2 and it plays....hopefully.
I seemed to have installed correctly as FMCB (ver 1.8)loads up with its name first and then on the browser options are:

System Configuration
Ulaunch Elf
HD Loader
Simple Media System
Launch Disc
Reload Configuration
Free McBoot Configurator
In the Save Game Manager on my PC go to Ps2 saves folder:
Several backed up folders of games beginning with BESLES-
One folder I created and named BOOT(inside of which is:LAUNCHELF, speeddial 23KB -has an icon of a computer +BOOT.ELF, Elf File 897KB -was originally named Uncompressed Boot.Elf,Elf File 897KB in the ULaunch Elf Folder)
One folder named NOOBIE PACKAGE - (i copied this folder after downloading it and pasted as is here)
Inside the Noobie Package:FREE_MCBOOT.ELF,Elf File 460KB + Install Folder.
I did download and place in the inject folder DVDELF.BIN,VLC Media File(.bin)74KB of which i renamed as i followed a thread about placing the correct file here for my region.I dont remember the original name but it was for oceanic region.
For some reason at this stage I have had some success with booting a couple of the backups that previously worked with memento using what appears to be dev 3 - holding pad down and pressing R1 then turning ps2 on with backup disk in.Mostly its not working though.
I no longer have memento on the memor32.
I also cannot access a site that often people are pointed to with links for help..hence why i have asked here....been trying for a couple of weeks now on a daily basis.
I also have downloaded ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a although as yet i have not used this but what backups i do have so far have been only patched by memento - i do wish to use esr instead though.
And for sons sake the easiest automatic boot i would prefer if thats possible.

ps when i installed i installed FMCB Multi Install so card may be used on sons mates Ps2's as well if he desires.
Okies i have already done the installing that way - i used the Sony mc that i originally got with the ps2 and followed that thread to install with at the beginning.

Well the discs patched with memento patcher should work the same, but the esr disc patcher is better.
With the sony 8mb card now using fmcb and esr, you should just be able to stick the disc in and play.
I don't like using the ESR.ELF they have put in the noobie package, so if you want using uLaunch.elf you can put the Esr r9b elf on your memory card. Just make sure to rename it too ESR.ELF

I replaced the ESR.ELF as you suggested....but I am not sure how you meant to use the "using uLaunch.elf you can put the Esr r9b elf on your memory card."unquote.
I simply deleted the one on my computer in the Ps2 saves folder-(C:\Program Files\Memor32\Ps2Saves\Noobie_Package\INSTALL)path,
copied and pasted the one i downloaded that you suggested and replaced with that one.
I am assuming that I have all the files correctly installed?
