I am trying to install porti032 on my Vista x64 build. After I choose the portio32.inf file I get the following error message, "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems." Am I able to install this program with Vista x64? I am using the Manual Install method which comes with the latest version of JungleFlasher found on this site.

Another question I have is, do I have to have porti032 installed? I read in a different thread that it doesn't have to be installed, just in the same folder as the JungleFlasher file.

When I start JungleFlasher under the Firmware Tool 32 tab and "Load Source Firmware" it sees my DVD drive (Sammy ms28) but when I go under the MTK Flash 32 tab, none of the I/O Ports sees my drive. They see my VIA VT6421 Raid Controller, but not the drive. Am I doing something wrong here? Under the F/W Tool 32 tab, it says "DVD key found @ 0x40EX, but I do not have that as a port available under the MTK Flash 32 tab. I tried to manually type it in the port drop down box to no avail.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I am pretty sure the PortIO driver is not 64bit compatible. You will need to use DosFlash32 (GUI) to get your drive read and flashed.

You might want to do the following:

1. Disable VIA card in Device Manager.
2. Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers and remove "viamraid.sys" or "vsmraid.sys".
3. Re-enable VIA card in Device Manager.
4. Re-boot PC.

This will help eliminate any reading or flashing problems.

No problem. Once you have DosFlash32 read your firmware, you can use JF to make your custom ix1.6 firmware. Save the custom firmware and flash firmware with DosFlash32.

Vendor mode for Samsung is 0x70.

Okay, with dosflash32 I get the following error message, "Can't install portio.sys driver!". I did as you suggested above. I also set dosflash32 to be ran as admin and also in Win XP service pack 2 mode...

Hmm.. I'm not for sure on that error. You could try booting to a USB drive and running DosFlash16 on it. I have a tutorial linked in my signature.

I think I am going to create a dual boot and install XP and try it from there.

WinXP 32bit works great with JF and DosFlash.

okay, so the XP boot didn't help matters any. Now I have created a USB bootdisk based on your instructions... Are there some other files I need to put on the USB bootdisk?

all the information I can seem to find on the USB bootdisk option seems to be a couple years old... I am guessing there is newer information as the f/w has changed. Any pointers would be welcomed.
