Hello I bought a new psp 3004 without any memory stick and when i checked its system software version was 5.01.
Is this is the firmware version of psp if yes then can i play all the downloaded psp games without putting any custom firmware on it...!

The only way as of right now is chickhen 5.03 + gen-a

you need to update to 5.03 [DO NOT UPDATE TO 5.50 OR 5.51 AND ABOVE HEN WON'T WORK IF YOU DO] An update link is here (http://pspslimhacks.com/index.php?dl_id=235)

follow the instructions here (http://pspslimhacks.com/guide-to-chickhen-on-your-psp-3000-ta88v3/) if it doesn't work the first couple of times keep trying there are times when it works in the 1st to 3rd trys and others when it takes a while

After you have checkHEN loaded in ram connected your psp to your computer

double-click on LAUNCH-ME.exe (GUI)
04.PSP Model : choose options  PSP-3000 
05.Mode : Choose option FULL
06. PSP Install : Choose option YES
07. Push START.
NOTE when asked for the drive put the letter that shows up like E NOT E: just E

Disconnect the PSP from USB.
10. Launch the main EBOOT.PBP / Loader using ChickHEN R2 (only R2! NOT R1!).
11. When the app load, press L or R to flash the firmware in your flash. YOU ONLY NEED MAKE IT ONE TIME!
12. Press () to reboot in the custom firmware.
