How to change firmware and play homebrew?

I'm really interested in playing homebrew games(such as triple triad)
anyways, nothing seems to be working for me.
When I finally got the steps right and was able to install the game(triple triad) onto my PSP....it did not work.

That was probably because I am not using custom firmware, I'm using the latest official update.

and I REALLY don't know what to do.

When I tried installing one of the Firmware installers, It STILL said that the data was currupt, I tried it again with a different one, and it said the same.

Can anybody help me out?

The reason why the data is corrupt is that CFW installers are homebrew applications and as such, you can't run them on OFW! What firmware are you on right now?

I'm on the current newest installment of OFW ,and I do not know how to get out of it.

Then the only way for you to use CFW is to use Pandora's Battery. But first, what model is your PSP?

If you are on OFW 5.51 then the only way is with Pandora (since there is no known exploit for 5.51 right now). I'm not joking, google "5.50 OFW to CFW" and you'll see.
