Ive done xclamp mods to many xbox's but i just bought a broken one on ebay (falcon) fixed it, it runs fine, but the fan is running really loud , and most of the hot air seems to be coming from the CPU side of the 360 rather than the GPU because im at the dashboard. I dont think i applied too much thermal paste, it was just a rice grain and i spread it with my finger after dipping it in rubbing alcohol. I think its the POS fan shroud. But im not sure. Should i get a Talismoon Whisper MAX? The falcon boards have the new 3 pin fans so idk if the old Talismoon work. Im not planning on running it at 12volts though. Thats way too fkn loud.
Clean off the thermal paste again and make sure it is dry. Apply thermal paste again with a sliver of a credit card or something like that, not your finger.
i ran out of as5, all i got is OCZ. sigh...i dont wanna have to do it all over. ive applied it with my finger many times, i just dip it in rubbing alcohol, then wipe my finger off in a paper towel
and then go from there.
the screws are snug. Its not really overheating, the fan isnt getting as loud as it does when the screws are too loose. the 360 works fine for hours, its just loud as crap. i took the white casing housing off the 360 and just let it sit in the metal tray and its silent
