i have my NTSC wii (with HBC, 4.0U, wiikey v1.0)...
so will i brick my Wii if i play a PAL region backup game?
will the game still brick my Wii if i patch the game to change the region coding from PAL to NTSC using WiU1.1 software?

Just remove the update on that Pal game. Less changes you make on the game , the better the odds are for it to run smoothly.

A lot of time, if you do convert Pal to NTSC you are going to screw something up (The game not your Wii) .

Also which backup loader are you using? The latest backuploader is NeoGamma which does have settings so you can play it as a Pal or NTSC game.

As long as you remove that update, you won't brick.

1) Backup Launcher is old. Neogamma is new http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=158884
1A) to get the Neogamma Channel http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=165485
2) Superdump (Requires homebrew) dump your game in 30 minutes. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/780900
3) Make your Wii skip updates! Use preloader 0.29 and enable skip updates. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader
4) Scared of Bricking your Wii? Make an NAND backup! Install BootMii http://bootmii.org/install/

Actually NeoGamma is the newest Backup loader, and it does help prevent dreaded error #002

Pal games are just like NTSC games, some of them have an update and others do not. It's just for games at a different country.

To remove the update using W.i.U 1.1

1) Open W.iU 1.1
2) load the ISO
3) If it does have an update on the upper right hand corner on the Update: It will say in RED letters [WARNING UPDATE!] (it might state the firmware but most of the time it said Firmware: Unknown
4) to remove it go to brick blocker and press Patch update
5) that is it!
6) If you want to confirm that it is indeed removed just reopen the same ISO.
7) it should say No Update on the Update part.

I backed up Mario and put original in my closet...I don't recall seeing anything about warning update, if update does show up will your wii brick right after that screen? I tried the patch but the file seems to be the same size. I'm on 3.4u and as we speak I have not been on the net with my wii. is that ok?
