Red Steel not loading in USB

I ran this through WiiPatcher first to get rid of the update, then tried loading it on USB Loader 1.5 Brisma mod (and USB Loader GX) and it got stuck at the Licensed by Nintendo screen.

So I tried patching it with Wii ISO Simple Patcher GUI and it spit out a 3.99 GB file that wouldn't load up in WBFS at all.

Then I patched the original ISO to IOS 249 with Waninkoko's original patcher. Now the game gets past the Licensed screen but then goes back to the Wii menu.

How can such an old game be such trouble??

My Wii is softmodded 4.0 system menu with CIOS 13b. Pretty every other game works.
