I've been trying to back up my copy of The Last Temptation of Christ to a VCD using SmartRipper, DVD2AVI, and TMPGEnc. After I get the .vob files with SmartRipper I use DVD2AVI to make the sound file. Then I play the .vob files in DVD2AVI to find out all the settings to put in TMPGEnc such as frame rate and if it's "progressive" or "interlaced". The problem I'm having with this movie is when DVD2AVI reads the properties of the movie, the frame setting keeps jumping back and forth between interlaced AND progressive. I've tried encoding it both ways and it always ends up being real choppy. Anybody have any ideas?

If you use the 'project wizard' in tmpeg-plus (don't think the standard version has it), the wizard will figure out the field order for you. Nice.
