I've been getting the LowID thing in eMule since I installed my Linksys BEFSR81 router. I read that if you enter some eMule ports in the forwarding config you can get a much higher ID. I did what the instructions said and my ID was still very low.

I read about the DMZ thing and tried it and to my surprise, my ID went to about 450000000 (450mil) so I was happy, but now I am very weary of the what the DMZ actually does to my computer's security.

Can someone please tell me what having my computer in the DMZ does exactly? What am I open to and what are the advantages besides the high ID?

Thanks in advance.
