Guys i face this problem when i try to copy the movie xXx.It is DVD-9 and i want to copy it to DVD-5 so i use DVDxcopy -Xpress but it can't read the DVD.When i use DVD shrink it says that it is protected and i can't copy it.I can't rip it to ISO beause it is about 8GB and it doesn't fit to a DVD-5.I have a new plextor dvd-cd writer so this not the problem,please tell me what to do :-)

Sorry aris-ssj3, there is no way that shrink should tell you that, I bet you got the new version of DVDxcopy with your new burner (assuming) and the new DVDxcopy won't copy any movies cause they thier ass's sued so now the new version's suck ass. (and If im wrong tell me). but any way's I backed up the same movie-XXX- with out a glitch using SHRINK and this program back's up eveything .it doesn't matter if it's 8gb, shrink wil compress it to fit on a DVD-5.
what els r u getting-any other error codes or does it say sorry won't copy?

hiya geestar20,
cant quite fully agree with ya there mate.
although not very often (i have encountered it with about 3 in 50 back up attempts) shrink can sometimes have trouble with copy protection.
if this does happen then DVD Decrypter will definaltly break the encryption and rip the dvd to hd allowing shrink to then work its magic.

I guess your Rihgt viper6699, but personnally never expieriencd anjy problems at all with backing up any moviies thaT PEOPLE have tried backing up and have had problem's with(weird) but thank the computer GOD'S.
Hey viper6699 Im gonna sit in a corner for awhile but can I comae out of the corner later? =)

Follow Sly's suggestion :-)
I backed Vin's "Triple X" using DVD Shrink (I think it was version 3.0 beta 5) No worries, Good flick :P)

sorry if i came accross a bit arsey on my last post but the way i see it is that if you aint had a problem it is easy to think it dont exist.
i'm like you mate........i must have been very lucky as i haven't had any where the amount of problems that some poor guys have had.

OK there Guys, How about I add am idea
1. A little "Postie" I came across from a while back - I've been doing it for so long I forgot to post it -
When you begin to rip your DVD, use your DVD-ROM drive not your burner to read from - had the same errors reading from the burner.

Ok guys i have xcopy express and it works great for me but if u have the rf ver. use dvd43 or any dvd they both run in the background and deal with the css so the xcopy rf will read the dvd as if it was css free

BTW I have a TDK 840 external burner and I have used imatition, TDK and memerox as my media and I along with xcopy express I have had no problems not 1 coaster. maybe it's true sometime it's beter to be lucky than to be good....:-)

Hi there Jas,
What I ment was the ability to trim off extras (keeping some if you wish) trailers and selecting those warning screens and riping those out - all with free programs :D)
We can do a total backup with 3 mouse clicks, just like DVD XCopy - except our programs are Free !!
Want to hear more -

Well Hi there Jas,
Get out your paper and pen and when we get done your DVD XCopy will be on the shelve just like ours :D)
Here ya go my friend,
You'll need 2 programs and they're both FREE !!!
(How kool is that ??)
Get yourself out a DVD and you'll have a backup in no time -
First create a folder for your HD backup. Try to put it someplace where you won?t forget it (i.e. C:/All DVD Work/My movie Name).
Next download DVD Decrypter and under mode select ?ISO, Write?. Un-tick the box that says ?verify?. Where it says ?source?, you?ll leave that blank as Decrypter will find the location of your backed up DVD file automatically. Lastly, where it says ?Destination?, select the drive where your burner resides. Feel free to close Decrypter, DVD Shrink will open it when it needs it.

Download DVD Shrink. Open it and click ?Edit?, and then click ?Preferences? under the ?File I/O? Tab un-tick ?Enable burning with Nero? then click ?OK?.

Now, what we did took a bunch of time but you'll never have to download this stuff again and your boxes are all checked so you don't have to do that again - here's the last part, check your watch now cause you'll have a backup in no time :P)
Place your original DVD in your DVD-ROM drive and a DVD blank in your burner?s drive. DO USE Ritek G04, Verbatim or media boasting ?Advanced AZO Dye. All other media could very well cause errors, only the very best media should be used for DVD Video backups. Now is defiantly not the time to put your crappy cheap stuff in - )
Now, take just a second and under ?Target Device? go to ?Select target device? once there, select ?ISO Disc Image?. NEXT, IMPORTANT, tick ?Launch DVD Decrypter to burn the output image? box. Finally, where it says ?Select target image file?, browse till you find your created folder for your backup and click ?Save?. That?s it ! Click ?OK? and DVD Shrink burns that ISO image to your HD. It then opens Decrypter and has it burn the ISO image to your waiting blank DVD.
Don?t use your PC for anything at all while it?s working. DO USE Ritek G04 discs, Verbatim discs and media boasting ?Advanced AZO Dye. All other media could very well be the cause errors, only the very best media should be used for DVD Video backups. Remember that RW discs will probably not play in standalone players.
* There have been issues where playing your DVD on your burner may result in errors during processing :-(
Enjoy there Jas and when you're done, I'll point you in the direction for getting rid of those trailers and such - once you've gone through this, the other stuff takes about 2-3 extra minutes :)

BTW all,
Memorex as an example, has posted figures as high as 50% coasters, not what I would call an impressive record -
Let?s get your media straightened out -
1. Cheap media skips, freezes, fuzzes, pixelats, refuses to be recognized, partially jams and of course, our good old standby, either doesn?t burn or doesn?t play at all :-(
Cheap media is great for text, Data, Spreadsheets, .Jpg and .Gif pictures and is good even for MP3 music BUT for DVD backups - BLAaaaaaT! It SUCKTH in an extremely Big-th way !
2. A top grade media is needed for DVD reproduction !
Ritek G04's or Verbatim are what we?re looking for OR any media boasting ?Advanced AZO Metal Dye?, this indicates a superior dye application, while they are a bit ?pricey? they are acceptable.
Prices online from Meritline.com have gotten Ritek G04 to down around a dollar a disc -
Question - If you make coasters out of 3 cheap discs and good copies from 3 Verbatim discs or 3 Ritek G04 discs - which ones then are too expensive ?
Remember, Memorex, Fuji, TDK, Orange Pack and others are good for your MP3 music, picture archives, Spread sheets, Data and your text backups and archives, they just don?t work well for DVD backups.
Sorry about the bad news but better to go in with your eyes open, that way when trouble comes you'll know what's going on :(
