Whay don"t you use the MMC Software that Comes with ATI capture cards??? It is made to capture from your Device and it has Pretty Good Mpeg capture Quality and uses a LOT less CPU Power to Encode the Captured Signal to Mpeg2, I have an ATI capture Card also but it is the Radeon 7200 VIVO Card and it works with Every Capture Program i have tried so I am thinking it might be a Driver Problem because you can sometimes Have Problems if you do not Install the ATI Drivers in a Particular order..Does your Device Manager say that your Devices are installed Properly and have you Gone into the Power Director Capture settings and selected "Rage Theater" or something simular from the Capture Source List?? Have you been able to Capture useing your Card before ,Meaning you have had it for a while and have captured some Video before???
I would siggest that you try it with the ATI MMC(Multi-Media Center) Software that comes with your Card and if it can not detect your Device then you should go to the ATI Web site and find the Order you should Install the Drivers(Both Display Drivers And WDM Capture Drivers) and the Capture Software and then uninstall your devices and install New Drivers in the Correct order and then see if it works and if not then I would Contact ATI (Good Luck on that One) and see what Tech support says...well good Luck...Cheers

I recently bought this card and have seen your message. Is your source outputting a SVHS signal through an SVHS socket or are you using an adapter? My VCR is VHS only and I bought an adapter that connects to SCART and is switchable IN/OUT with SVHS and Composite/stereo connections. I also had to get a cable with three RCA connectors at one end and a stereo audio jack and composite plug at the other. Don't expect to improve on the tape quality I find that the MPG2 playback is slightly worse although I'm new to all this and working with VHS source.

I'm attempting to capture with a ATI AIW 8500 card. I can capture the video, but when I look at it from the temp folder the motion is slow. What do I do with this file now. I want to burn it to a DVD+R? If I have to encode and author please tell me how, cause the ATI manuel is no help!

If the Files are DVD Compliant Mpeg2 then all you have to do is author them to DVD useing a DVD authoring Program Like DVD-Lab or TMPGEnc DVD Author...I also used to have an AIW 8500 but I had the AIW 8500DV Model and never had any problems with it ,You can simply use the ATI Software that came with the card to Capture to Mpeg2 useing one of the DVD Profiles and then author that File to DVD with one of the Mentioned DVD authoring Programs....Cheers
