hi there to all,
i am quite new to this p2p thing.i read a lot of discussions on which p2p is faster.but no one mentions what speeds one shud expect from a p2p to know that his p2p is fast or slow.
i have a dialup connection and 56k internal modem(does external give better speeds than internal one?). for this setup.... what download speeds(in kbps)shud i expect from a faster p2p and a slower one??? i am really confused. can anyone help me in this reguard?
thanx very much in advance for ur help.

Assuming you are connected at a full 56 kilobits, the most you can expect from any source is 7 kB/s on a good day. (56 kilobits / 8.192 = 6.836 kilobytes.) As such, it is difficult to recommend one p2p app over the other, as they are all easily capable of that speed; but I would definitely recommend something on the edonkey network, i.e. eDonkey, eMule, Overnet, Kademlia, or any of their various mods. But let me reiterate the bottom line: you won't get more than 7 kB/s.

You cant rate any p2p by speed, thats the whole point, its p2p! computer to computer, you are downloading from another person using p2p, so if they had a 56k connection then maybe the best upload speed they could get would be about 4kb/s, or on the other hand it could be a few ppl on 56k so u might get the full 7kb/s! Also there are other things u have to take into consideration like the way some p2p networks reward sharers with download priority! Bottom line is, there is NO faster p2p!
