DVD Burning Problem

I burned a data DVD but i still had some stuff i needed to put on it so i flipped the disc over and tried to burn it on the other side where the label is. I heard some squealing and grinding noises. So i opened and closed the tray a few times by prying it open with a screw driver. Now what? You can use both sides of a dvd like you can use both sides of a cassette right?
