I haven't modded my XBox yet ( was going to get a 120 or 80 GB HD and a Xecuter 2.3b Lite Plus ) but then I heard that when you go onto XBox Live, even with the mod chip turned off, and the actual game disc in the system, that MS detects the HD, even if it has been locked. Then they will just kick you off XBL.

But, now I have heard that the new BIOS hide your HD from MS. So, can you actual go onto XBL with the new BIOS?

you can still go on xbl with your upgraded hdd and not get banned as long as you have your modchip off and are running the M$ bios and using the original game disk, i.e. not a backup. this thing you are talking about seems to have very little activity surrounding it
