Burning/Copying 4 GB Hard drive or partition to DVD?

Anyone know how I could go about Burning/Copying 4 GB Hard drive or partition to DVD?

I want to burn my complete updated fresh install of Win XP on to a DVD. The OS is on a 4 GB Hard dirve.

Once the OS was on DVD could I not then just copy the files form the DVD to a freshly formated drive. Useing some kind of xcopy command in msdos?
