Well, there are no such things that I know of... but isn't that possible? I mean DVD (as well as CD) media get so easily scratched. I'm not too familiar with the material used to make these discs, but I figured it would be more than possible to change the chemical composition of this material so it can be a little bit (or a lot) more scratch resistant. Hey, I'll sure as hell buy some of those.

I'll patent the idea and get rich.

Hi and Welcome to our forum alseides,

I like Verbatim, they make an almost fingerprint resistant DVD - That's a start :-)

TDK makes "Armor Plate" DVDs that are supposedly pretty dang tough to scratch according to a review I read a while back. Here's a link to TDK's media page and the armor ones are all the way on the left.

hey thanks for the replies. Here at AD ppl are quick to help, and I like it a lot. Kind of changing the topic (I should start a new thread) i heard cd labels mess up the laser. I'm assuming most of it is due to the thickness and weight of it. Is there any ultra thin plastic adhesive of any sort to avoid this problem?

again, thanks.

No prob - we aim to please :) Labels are best avoided - they do tend to induce read errors. Here's a gragantuan thread on the subject:

Personally I have no issues (600+ backups) with labels - DO USE an applicator ! Off center or double layers can indeed cause problems because of unbalanced discs.

Best, - -> printable discs if your printer can do them - mine cannot :-(
