I know everybody said that RITEK G04 media is good so I bought a 100-PACK from supermedia for $78.00 and so far I have had nothing but problems. I made a backup of one DVD and had seven freezes while watching the movie. I made a backup of another DVD and after watching part of it I discovered that an entire chapter was freezing and skipping so I basically turned that into a coaster. Does RITEK guarantee there media in any way? Does anybody else have problems with RITEK?

The problem isn't with the discs-it's with your supplier. That company is known to sell B grade discs, avoid them at all costs. I buy from Rima.com and never have a problem with defectives.

I was thinking of buying Ritek, but can not find the G04's in DVD+R.

What up with Supermediastore.com?

newegg.com has them,

rima.com has them,

http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=1649-100

Both are great places to deal with :)

It is not likely to be a problem with the riteks.
The Supermedia and Prodisc and Riteks I have purchased from supermedia.com have worked well. I am up to about 700 discs burned.

The hardware and software bugs were the places I had to work out the bugs. I have had problems with media before but not the ones listed above.

I've also had problems with Ritek G04's as well as Prodisc S03 when archiving. This is especially surprising, since the two brands are held in such high regard. Disingenuous media isn't an issue in my case. I get my discs from a local vendor so I can go put my foot in his back pocket if I need to. I've checked his media with DVDInfo and they're all legit. I'm wondering if the fact that I'm attempting to burn at 4x is the cause of the issue. My burns with 2x Verbatim Datalife are flawless -- but we're talking about a totally different vedor, too. Still, I'm not truly convinced that it's a speed issue because (believe it or not), my Princo 4x's are running rings around any other 4x media I've used. I've had about a 90% success rate burning archival data at 4x with Princo. Go figure.

I just picked up a 15 pack of Verbatim Datalife at Office Depot. They ran a buy one get one free special for 29.99. (no freakin rebate like most deals).

My question is, are the "DataLife's" good? Compared to the the "DataLife plus".

Can someone that knows about Ritek look at the post five above me here and tell me if both of those Ritek stacks are the same media? One is one color and the other is another. I want to order a 100 pack of Ritek's and don't know which one to buy.

I just bought from OfficeMax a 100 pack of Ritek CD-R's. They had them on special so that they were free after rebate. They may be all crap, but price was worth the stamp. They are silver and came wrapped in red.
