I was wondering what settings I should use for video capture. When I download sitcoms on the internet they are generally 200-400 mb but when I capture with tuner card they are over 1 gig I know there is a setting that will compress to a reasonable size. Thanks

All I am doing with the files is watching them on my tv. The compression is divxmpg4 v3 sample size 24 bit, data rate 77 kbps, and frame rate 30 f/s. I just don't know why the files I download like friends for example is like 200 mb's and mine are like 1 gig. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well the Size of the File is directly related to the Length of the Movie and the bitrate you used to encode the File...Are you makeing sure that you are also Compressing the Audio as well as the Video??? Because if you Leave the Audio Uncompressed you will Have Huge Filesizes also....hope this helps

Well MP3 is the Most common audio Compression format in AVI files, You can Compress the audio After Captureing if you want because sometimes Captureing to a Compressed audio format can cause problems..You can use Virtual-Dub to compress the audio after Captureing as Long as you have a Mp3 codec installed..You can download Virtual-Dub here:
http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/VirtualDub-MPEG2.zip
You just Load your AVI file into it and set the "Video" to "Direct stream Copy" and then set the "Audio" to "Full Proscessing Mode" and then under "Audio" go to "Compression" and choose MP3 and a bitrate (128kbs is usually good enough) then go to "File" to "Save AVI" and give the New AVI file a Name and save it...In a Few minutes you will have a New Smaller AVI file with Mp3 audio....Cheers
