there is a lot of guides out there you know. but what the heck, here goes.

what kind of mpeg ?
if you're making VCD, its mpeg 1. so you can only "burn in" the subtitles. the way to do this is using VirtualDub, get the filter subtitler or VobSub and add the subtitle. but first you need to convert the format to .ssa (sub station alpha). you can change this in subresynce that comes with VobSub.
then frameserve the file too. load the frameserve file in your mpeg encoder programme of choice. TMPGEnc etc.
and reencode. yes you need to reencode.
you can also do this to mpeg2 files.

an alternate way to put subs on mpeg 2 is using winsubmux (.sub) which what you got. its dvd style kind of sub but its not as straight forward as it sounds. as dvd uses pictures and not text for their subs. my geuss your file is only the sequence. for this you need to make the pictures by using MaestroSBT.

ahh heck its long i'll just post a guide

Hi, there and thanks a lot!

The life is not simple as I see.

You know if You have a AVI file, then You may use AVI2SVCD which has in it the whole complex for SVCD including subtitles (all types). Now if You have mpg files (MPEG2) after TMPGEnc encoding finished it's boring job, then You are in trouble (if You want add permanent subtitles from sub or srt files), because You can't find an easy use program for to do it. Isn't it so?
Who does the job for converting the sub, srt - text files to bmp files?
Thanks a lot.

Maestro need the file in ssa first.
