DVD X Copy Platinum is running on a complete vanilla system set up for this software only. I tried to make the first back up of a disk that has 6.5 gigs of data. The compression rate was approximately 68%. The software ran through the source disk, wrote the TDF file to teh hard drive and then on a 2.4X disk, wrote the files. After completing successfuly, it would not be recognized by DVD XCopy and when installed in my home computer, the disk started and got the opening screen for the movie producing company. Then i got the error message for a Wrong Volume. I tried to close the DVD with DVD Decrypter but that did not work. I was told that DVD xpress Platinum was a "plug and play" software. There ar eno settings to change, but what are the limitations.
Please advise.

Please post any DVD x Copy stuff in the dvdxcopy forums.

http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/

P.S. once you're finished with dvdxcopy, try DVD Shrink and we can help with any probs.

Cheers.

Thank you. I did use the DVD Shrink and then 1click DVD to make hte backup copy. Reading the DVD went without issue. However, after about 30% of writing the DVD, the sytem crashed out and rebooted with a "serious" windows issue. It was a "mini-dump" error message. I have windows XP pro with SP1a loaded. The system has no other programs running, no virus software running, etc. The systme is a 1.0 ghz systme with 512 memory. I recently reformtted the hard drive (808 gig) to NTFS. For the previous two year sit was the main computer at the house and very stable. I have tried 4x times and the same crash occurs each time with the same basic message. Any suggestions on what is causing the systme crash? I apprecaite any help you can offer.

I'd try burning the disc with a different prog. I've never used 1click DVD, but after DVD Shrink has finished, try burning with Nero 6, which it intergates with perfectly. If you want to do it with freeware try using DVD Decrypter after Shrink has finished (just remember Decrypter only burns iso's so you'll have go get Shrink to output the files as an iso).

Guide for burning with Nero:

Guide for burning with Decrypter(at Doom9):

Hope this helps.

I use the Daemon, Decryptor, Shrink suite when X copy is messing up (getting to be too often). Shrink incorporates Nero and after the 15 day test period, Nero shuts down and Shrink goes back to 2x. You'll have to get the serial to activate the Nero after the trial period. As previously noted, go to Doom 9 and get the guides. They're not up to the current versions, but the changes are small and the guides still usable. I use the ISO Read mode with the decrypter to create ISO files to the hard drive. You may find this the best method, many have. DVD X Copy used in the advanced mode can also use the ISO files through the emulator program, Daemon. Just make sure no discs are in the drives and X copy recognizes the ISO file. DVD X Copy has advantages, such as recording movie only and still having scene selection. Shrink is more advanced but lacks some choices. That's why one should have more than one program to rely on.
