Is there any way to extract say 2 minutes of movie. Or, get individual frames of a movie that I can then import into a movie editor.

sure..is the movie on a dvd or an mpeg? if an mpeg use TMPGEnc..go to file mpeg tools then merge and cut. if a dvd, you'll have to rip it. the easiest way after that is with TMPGE DVD Author or, supposedly, dvdshrink. however i've never used dvdshrink.
