I was wondering if someone out there may have attempted backing up a dvd titled "Roger Waters In the Flesh-Live"..?
I have backed up pretty much all of my dvd's where as my wife & I have a cabin in the mountains of New Hampshire and its alot ealier to have backup of our movies at the cabin rather than have to always decide what to bring for the weekends ect... Anyway, as I stated, "I pretty much have backed up...."
My DVD X-Copy Platnium has never failed me when it comes to backing up my collection until I tried with my Roger Waters Live In The Flesh dvd. I load it in, X-Copy see's it, registers that amount of Compression thats needed inorder to fit it on a DVD+-RW or R's and then progresses to "Reading" the disk. But then when I'm told to insert a blank dvd and I hit the "Start" button I'm presented "Immediately" after hitting the start button with an error about the disk not having enough space and to insert another disk.
I've attempted the backup 6 times... tieing up my system for 30 minutes at a shot just to end up being told my dvd isn't big enough...Yet their brand new...
Any help would be truly appreciated...
Thanks for Your Time...
It sounds like you've got a good handle on XCopy and the whole process so we can rule out the "newbie" factor right away! I haven't used XCopy in a dog's age but I do know that XCopy can be very persnickety with some discs.
Having said that, I would highly recommend trying a freeware app called DVD Shrink. Shrink does everything XCopy does only much better. I'll give you a couple of links to guides for DVD Shrink that will give you a good headstart.
My killer sig came courtesy of bb "El Jefe" mayo.

Hey I just wanted to Thankyou for your help... It worked like a charm...
I have a question for you though. When I went to select the audio that I wanted to keep it showed that the 5.1 was only 448 or so mgs, and then it had another one next in line that didn't show 5.1 but had a size of 2,345 mgs... Why would 5.1 sound only be 448 and the next one be 5 times the size? Is there a difference in the audio selections..? As in Quality ect..?
Not sure what the difference is between your audio files. The latest version of DVDshrink will allow you to preview each stream while the DVD is playing. So you might be able to find out that way. I believe you right click on the preview screen and select the audio that you want to hear. Hope this helps and welcome to After Dawn
Ok, just for curious sakes... Here are the two files that I'm refering to.
1. AC3 5.1-ch English = 497 mgs
2. LPCM 2-ch English = 2,137 mgs
Subpicture:
1. English = 2 mgs
As I stated earlier, I burnt the disk using the "AC3 5.1" selection because I ass'ume'd that the second choice being "2-ch" as in 2 speakers... Also ass'ume'n that the "5.1" was representative of surround sound, which is something that I wanted to keep. The thing I don't understand is that I would think that 5.1 surround would require more file size as opposed to 2.1..?
I did some research because I was curious. To my understanding the LPCM stream is put there to insure a higher compatability rate amoung all DVD players. To make sure it will play on all dvd-players including old ones.
