It's kinda hard to say anything useful here. You say that the song is *.mp3 but Easy CD complains about the file extension (the .mp3 part of the name).

Easy CD is crap anyway - try burning the file with some other software, like Feurio! http://cd-rw.org/software/audio_software/all-in-one/feurio.cfm

Please continue in this one. It still haven't quite been able to pinpoint what actually is your problem: the software or the .mp3 files.

Do you have allowed Windows Explorer to display extentions in the filename ? If not, right click on the file, ask its properties, and check its MS DOS name. It must end with MP3.
Your files might not be MP3, but maybe MP+, MPC, OGG, etc...

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Is someone being bought off to stop CD burning?

get yourself goldwave (www.goldwave.com) and open it up with that. If it opens up, you can re-save it as mp3 or wave. If it doesn't open up it is corrupt. If it plays in winamp, I would say it is corrupt in some way. If you use feurio, there is a great feature called 'decode on the fly' and if this is on and you drag it in you project, it will check the mp3 and let you know if there is any problem. As for needing registration for feurio, you do not need any if you don't mind putting up with nag screens (other than that it is the same as the registered version). And yes, get rid of ez cd creator...gotta be the worst thing out there...

I had that problem last year after I installed a free player having to do with Liquid. I found the solution at the Roxio site. I don't find it there now. Check for the Fraunhofer Codec, it's easy to do.

Easy CD Creator fails to recognize my MP3 files as being valid audio files.

When opening an Audio CD Layout in Easy CD Creator and browsing to a directory that contains MP3 files, the program reports: "There are no audio files in this folder."

Also, if you try to drag an MP3 file into an Audio Layout, a warning message may be displayed indicating : "The MyFile. MP3 has an unrecognized file extension. Valid extensions are .WAV and .MP3. Please select a files with a .WAV or .MP3 file extension."

This information applies to the following product(s):
- Easy CD Creator Deluxe 4. x Suite
- Easy CD Creator Deluxe 5. x Suite

This information applies to the following Operating System(s):

-Windows 95
-Windows 98
-Windows ME
-Windows NT 4
-Windows 2000
-Windows XP

Answer

In Windows 95/98/NT 4, go to Start-Control Panel -Multimedia-Devices and expand the Audio Compression Codecs

In any of the operating systems, look for an entry for Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec. If the entry is missing, skip to the next paragraph. Otherwise, double-click on the entry and then choose the About button, ensure that you are using version 1.9 or later. If the Fraunhofer entry is an earlier version than 1.9, then remove it.

Search for any files on your drive that match L3*.ACM and rename them to a different extension, such as .OLD, then reinstall your copy of Easy CD Creator.

Your MP3 files should be recognized properly after the reinstall.
