I'm trying to back up a couple of dvds that I own with Alcohol 120%. I also have dvd region free installed and activated on my puter as well. When I go to burn my dvd I get a message that says cannot burn disc due to css protection. Errors may happen if you proceed to burn. I thought dvd region free would take care of this problem but evidently not. Is there some settings I can change to correct this problem or maybe I should switch to anydvd ? Please help ! Strone

Hiya,

Region Free only defeats the Region Coding - CSS is the actual encryption that protects the DVD.

DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are two freeware apps that will rip/compress/burn for you - both are very good!

We have excellent guides for them in our "Guides" section to get you started :)

Hey thanks dude for the info. I downloaded Shrink and Decrypter programs and they both work wonderful. Who ever wrote those programs were very thurel. Both programs also have excellent picture quality too. What are your thoughts on anydvd program ? I have Clone dvd and was wondering if they were compatible ?

AnyDVD and CloneDVD were designed to work together as I understand it. Although I've never used either one I've gathered that they are both very capable programs that produce excellent results :)

The authors of Shrink and Decrypter are saints. I try to give ten bucks to Decrypter's website every now and again but Mr. Shrink doesn't take donations I guess.
