USB 2.0 External DVD burner unit problem

I have a LiteOn 411SX external unit, it has giving me random coaster as result of 'Reset Occurred' error with Nero 6, and 'semaphore timeout period has expired' error using the DvdDecrypter. According to DvdDescryter author, he think it is relates to the USB 2.0 driver timeout. My OS is XP pro SP1, as such the USB 2.0 driver on my machine is latest, so the question will be the hardware MB, burner ... anybody has any issue using the external Dvd burner
