windows media player won't play mpeg2 audio

Hello,
I have converted a svcd mpeg2 file to dvd format mpeg2 720x480 using the linear pcm audio setting in Main Concept Encoder. I couldn't get the file to play at all in windows media player and then learned I needed the mpeg 2 codec and installed Powerdvd 5.0. This fixed the video, but for some reason there's no audio. I know the file works because I transfered it to my laptop and it plays fine. Is there any audio codec that I need to install/reinstall.
