I cannot believe this site to be condoning filesharing programs!?!?!
One guy on here even put "I own DvdXtreme, but I lost my cd and I am hoping someone knows a channel on MIRC that I can go to just to back it up. I would GREATLY appreciate it."
He got threatened with a complete ban if he posted again!!!!
The second guy wrote "can tell me where i can d'load some movies"...and didn't even get a nasty reply, i am also taking a safe bet on the fact that he wasn't regarding to "movies" that he already owned, lol.
Come on afterdawn....i thought you were better than this, espercially after this report quoted from a canadian news site...."The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced on June 25, 2003, that it will begin suing users of peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing systems within the next few weeks. According to the announcement, the RIAA will be targeting users who upload/share "substantial" amounts of copyrighted music. The RIAA has stated that it will choose who to sue by using software that scans users' publicly available P2P directories and then identifies the ISP of each user. Then, using the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), the RIAA will subpoena the ISP for each user's name, address, and other personal information in order to sue that user."

I understand ur concern, but if you take a look at this link you'll see the forum rules:http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487 if you read this before posting then you would know that

5. -> PIRACY AND LINKING TO PIRATED MATERIAL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE FROZEN IF YOU DO THIS <-
this forum doesn't condone piracy, it is simply noobie posts that ruin the overall look of the forum. if everyone read the rules before posting, and realized that a posts like "where can I download ps2 games," are not okay then we would not have this problem, but people are idiots, so what do you expect? The thing is that yes, people use, p2p, irc etc to pirate stuff online, but the matter of the fact is that people use programs to access this stuff online, and when associating with programs there are going to be technical ???s to be answered. This is a tech site, that is all, we are not here to tell you where to download kill bill 2, we are here to answer you technical ???s. So before you get all flustered look at the facts, people are greedy, they don't know better, they do a search on google that leads them to AD, they see that the site is talking about burning ps2 games, so what is there first reaction (post), "Do you guys know where I can download ps2 games i'm tired of paying for them?" what is the follow up post, AD does not condone piracy, go somewheres else, this is a tech site.

i personally say that if you don't like it, don't come here...simple as that.....this does not reflect the views of afterdawn itself...if you were going to fix the problem by working your way up the ladder until someday you are in charge and do all that is humanly possible to stop "piracy", then you can complain but if not then go elsewhere...futhermore what do care if people are file sharing...they aren't going into your private stash and even if they were target hackers not everyone...get over it the day i see mel gibson homeless...or 50 cent driving himself in a pinto...i'll care until then live and let live.....

I don't care LOL...i fileshare so much i have 200Gb's of movies/games/albums on my system. I am merely trying make a point that the should be no descrimination in the forum...the 2 guys i mentioned in the top thread are both pirating, yet one gets a ban and the other doesn't get 1 nasty remark....There cannot be a rule for one and a rule for another!
Oh and...

1. Not all of use live in the reach of the RIAA. Noting that you read Canadian news sites you might know that the Canadian law is now in a position not to sue individuals

2. There are legitimate problems for which we may need to inquire as to the nature of the material being backed up. I.e., game protections
