NEED HELP with x2.3lite programmer

why the hell doesn't this "external" programmer program the chip while its still in the xbox? I took it apart to remove the chip and then remembered why I never modded it myself... What are my other options? I flashed the bios with Slayer's and get frag with chip turned on, xbox splash screen right into error 16 message with chip off. I never renamed the dashboard or anything, 2.3b lite chip. Any tutorials on how to remove the chip? Looked pretty scary, lots of stuff to break. Please help me!

figured it all out - remove the chip (was attached with two-way tape, and had 3 wire inserts) then plug into programmer, the rest is all in varios tutorials
