Hi,
I've tried SmartRipper, DVDDecrypter, TMPGEnc and ReMPEG2 to try and rip .vob files to either .mpg or .avi (or other like .asf or .wmv etc etc).
Is there a way to do this?

Hi Paul,
No - what I mean is convert a .VOB into a file called somehting like movieclip.avi or movieclip.mpg.
I can then use a video editing programme to get clips and stills from my movies for viewing on a PC - nothing to do with DVD or VCD playback.
I think I am doing this right now with a program called DVD2AVI. I will see what it turns up when it has finished.
ANy other dieas are all welcomed.

DVD 2 AVI creates two files, a .wav sound file and a .d2v video file, you need to put these back together using something like TMPGEnc, which will then put them back together in one .mpg file. This does not have to be a VCD compliant file. So basically you are nearly there.
Paul.
