if you are using a bios that is .06 it will format it with a g drive
if you are using a bios that is .67 it will not format it with any g drive
using the g drive allows for more organization and if for some reason that that f drive doesn't work you will still have the g drive to work with. if you use only f drive you have everything on one drive so if it messes up it is gone.
the g drive is not used unless the hard drive is bigger than 137 gb

HELP PLS. I am using a 250gb hdd and I noticed that after I transferred my games to my F folder, only half of them are playable and the other half the names don't appear instead I see this weird letterings like scrible or single letters. i keep scrolling down i continue to se the same and can't play those games. From my pc via FXP i can see the folders name (games) and everything from there looks fine. Anybody has any ideas or comment on what is going on? Thnx in advance.

hdds over 137gig require the use of an LBA48 supporting bios. You can use either a .06 or .67 bios.
.06 uses f and g drive (partition 6(F) gets 137, partition G gets rest).
.67 uses f only (partition 6(F) gets rest).
You don't have to use G if you don't want. There is no greater chance of a corrupt drive using either setup. Some like to use the G partition so that if BY CHANCE F or G went corrupt, they'll still have a little something to work with and not all info will be lost.
I recommend having a friend with whom you can regularly "backup" info (share). If, by chance, there's a corruption, you can restore from your friend.
But don't be worried about a partition going bad. It's not as though its all that common.

pls. clarify on this: i thought .06 left you with one huge f (partition 6) while .67 gave you f and g (partition 6 and 7) and not the other way around? so which is correct?

my current setup has only 6 part. F being the largest. the problem i am having with F is that i am only able to play have of my games saved in it. the rest of them shows either just 2 letters or symbols and are not playable. Basically i am trying to remedy this by perhaps doing a bios upgrade.

yes alas, I mixed them up.
.06 is the large F.
.67 is F and G.
Sorry about that.
