Archive DVD skipping only AFTER pausing movie.

I use DVDXCOPY Platinum and have noticed that my archives work great until I pause the film. When I do that, the film will start to skip, getting worse and worse as the film continues. If I stop the movie, take it out, power my DVD player off and then try to go to the last viewed chapter it still skips. Will even skip after the pause point on subsequent viewings.

I have a Toshiba SD-V390 DVD/VHS Combo. My dad has the exact same player and the same thing happens to him! HELP!!!! Any ideas on what may cause this so I can avoid it in the future.
