Intervideo winDVD Region Changing

I have Intervideo WinDVD running on Windows XP. I have watched a couple of DVDs on it and it all works fine However I got a message the last time I changed Region to tell me that this was my last change and I couldn't change regions again.
I find this strange, since you can change regions willy-nilly on ordinary DVD players. Is there a 'fix' for this or is there a piece of DVD software that I can put on my computer that will allow me to watch any region whenever I want?
Hope all that makes sense and someone can help
