I've been successfully using TMPGEnc in combination with VCDEasy to encode and burn VCDs for well over a year now, but I recently had to reformat my hard drive and re-download all of these programs. I can't find the version (2.01) of TMPGEnc I'm used to using and I'm having serious difficulties with this new one.

With my old program, I had no problem fitting movies as long as 100 minutes on an 80 minute CD if I was willing to settle for slightly less quality, but with this new program I'm finding it impossible to do. Using the expert settings and unlocking the bit-rate feature, I'm able to adjust the bit-rate to where TMPGEnc tells me it will easily fit on an 80 minute CD, giving me an estimated file size of 600-700 MB. The problem comes when I try to burn the MPEG file using VCDEasy or Nero (I've tried both). Either of those programs tells me that my file is 900-1100 MB and will not fit on my CD.

Am I missing something simple that I've just forgotten from the last time I set these programs up? Is there some solution out there I can't find? I really don't want to have to split these short movies in half unless I have no other option.

Please help!

This is Simple....This is because you are encode the File as a Mpeg1 file not a VCD File...There is a Differance, so what VCDEasy is doing is adding Padding to the File because there is Not a Correct VCD Header added to the VCD file...To fix this you go to "Settings" to "System" and set it to "Mpeg Video-CD NON-Standard" and then your Problem will be solved...If you allready have files that are encoded that you Can not Burn because of this Problem then all you have to do is to to "File" to "Mpeg tools" to "Merge & Cut" and Load in the Mpeg1 file and choose an output diffectory and choose" Mpeg1 Video CD NON_Standard" from the Dropdown Menu and click "Run" and it will re-mux the File and add the correct VCD Header to the File....Cheers
