i bought 2 blank dvd-rw so i could practice backing up my movies and it worked fine the first time i did it. using the same 2 dvd-rw i am now on the 3rd time of writing on them and am having endless problems. they are orange discs made by bulkpaq and manufactured by ritek and write at 2x. it says they are generation 4-whatever that means. i bought them from a computer shop that built my computer, would they purposely sell me crap? thay are saying it could be the laser on my burner which is only 3 months old and is a lite-on dvdrw ldw 451s. although the burn process seems to go fine( i use nero version 6) when i try to play the disc in either my set top dvd player or my computer, the discs skips, sticks, freezes and at worst is not recognised at all and i can,t even eject the disc unless i turn the dvd player off and turn it on, pressing eject before the player tries to read the disc. is it the media, my rewriter or culd it be because i have full reased the dvd-rw instead of quick erase? please shed some light on the situation. also, i don,t want to buy a lot of rw discs, so how do i know i am buying good quality rw discs from a local store? thanks thanks thanks

They are pretty crap, i doubt its ur laser. Also, just to make it clear, Ritek dont manufacture them, they simply use their dye

thanks for the info. some other people have said the same thing to me since posting my thread. what are the odds though that both of them would be rubbish, i only bought two in the first place! since then i have been out and bought 2 other discs( arita dvd-rw 2x in purple and silver). do you think these are a good make? also, is there an easy way to find out if my laser is at fault? thanks again.
