Using Shrink is there a way to remove the Closed Caption text. I've found that when I Re-author, some of the movies always show the closed caption text.

Are you talking subtitles? Subs can be taken out in reauthor mode :)

I'm referring the the words spoken by the actors being printed on the screen.

I've found that when I re-author, the default is always that subtitles are on when I play the movie. However, you can turn the subtitles off through the DVD player. If this is a pain, you can just de-select the subtitles after you pull the movie over reauthor. Be careful when you do that however. I did that when I backed up "The Missing" and ended up losing some vital translations. Make sure you won't have need of any subtitles

I've always seen those referred to as subtitles so if what you're talking about it something different I'm afraid I can't help you because all the movies I've run done have subs with no option to remove "Close Caption"

What titles are giving you this problem?

Every time the actors speak, the text is printed and shown at the bottom of the screen. This is usually the Closed Caption for the hearing imparred. I've checked the Tv and it's set at Off. When I just backup the entire movie with Shrink the text does not appear, only when I re-author. The movies were Contact and Beautiful Mind.

When you've compiled your re-authored dvd go click on Compression settings. You'll see all the included audio tracks and subtitles. If you don't want subtitles, a.k.a. closed caption, just uncheck it.

On most dvds this 'on screen text' you're seeing is for distribution in other areas / countries. Spanish and French subtitles are included for folks who don't speak English.

A simple click of your dvd player remote will turn these on / off if you include them.

I watched the first two movies of Lord of the Rings w/o subtitles -then- watched them again with subtitles. There is more dialogue than you know about if you haven't seen it w/ subtitles.

Yeah, it is. I leave the English subtitles onscreen when ever I watch a movie. It's a lot easier than one might think to actually see, hear and read a movie and not miss anything.
