Hi there,

I've read the how-to articles, the forum messages, other web-sites, newsgroups ad nauseum. If I could get some assistance I would greatly appreciate it. I have a P-3 system running at 1 Ghz with 512 Mb of RAM, three HDD with the one that I use for capture being 80 Mb ATA-100 with nothing else on it. I use Windows 2000 SP2 as the O/S. Capture card is ATI All-in-Wonder AGP Pro with 32 Mb of RAM. I installed all the latest drivers and software from ATI as per articles I've read and yet, when I capture using the Huffy codec or, for that matter, even the default codec for the ATI capture software the audio and video are out of synch upon playback. I tried using the MJPEG codec and that told me I was losing 60% (!) of my frames during capture. I try to use 720x480 with a bit rate of 8 to 9 Mb/s and still I can't capture a few minutes from a S-Video connection that doesn't have the synch problem. I also tried using Ulead DVD Movie Factory with the same results. Am I trying to capture with too high of settings? I guess I'm confused as to why with all the PC power I have it can't do it. I then see devices like Panasonic's DVD-R and DVD-RAM standalone for $700 that claim to do it just like using a VCR and I wonder why I'm doing it this way. Can anybody help me?

How can I begin to figure out what's wrong?
