Hello,

A client has handed over some .VOB files to me. I have done some research and found that these are DVD rips, and can be easily converted to MPGs by simply changing their extensions. The files are really big, too big for my use as my goal is to use these in Flash MX and deliver them via the web.

I tried to convert them down to a smaller size with Adobe primere (6.5) but they lose the sound. When I play them in certain players it crashes the app (WindowsMedia has no sound, Winamp plays them OK sometimes but crashes half the time). Flash cannot import them (I've tried it on MX2004 and Flash 5 on two sepereate machines) Flash will simply crash with a error referencing DirectDraw I think.

Is there an easy way to convert these VOB files to something usuable, such as a compressed MPG or ideally a FLV file? I am willing to buy Quicktime Pro if I need to but have read that Quicktime drops audio tracks on some DVD rips.
