How many avi files can you fit on 1 dvdr?

Hi
Does anybody know how i can fit more than a few avi's files to one dvdr? I have a load of tv series files around 50mb to 100mb each in size but only about 3 will onto one dvdr, is there any software that will help?

Well DVDs are 4.35GB .... so a little bit of math yields 44-89 such movies as a DataDVD.

Since you said you get 2-3 to a disc, I'm assuming (yeah I know - don't do that) you're encoding them as actual DVD-Video files. Unfortunately, you haven't said what you're doing now, so it's impossible to tell you what to do differently. I can, however, tell you that if they're hour long (probably 40-45 minutes without commercials) shows, 2-3 on a DVD sounds about right. There are ways to make the files smaller, but that will involve losing some quality.

Yes indeed, what is the total running time for the 2-3 clips you can add to the disc :)

let me make things more complicated :P

some video are more compressible and some aren't so, you'll get a different size everytime. only when you want the best size for the smallest. its okay to overkill the bitrate.

head on to http://forum.doom9.org/ the people there got a lot of technique ecspecially in xvid.

i say you can get 6 hours max for a single layer dvd.
