backing up takes hours during reading stage

I'm trying to backup up my copy of Need for Speed: Underground. I'm using Alcohol 120%. I get a read error at 94% of the process and now it's taking hours to finish.

The only thing I can think of is; it's copy protection, or, the disk is damaged.

I've made two other backups without a hitch.

Any ideas are welcome.

I apologize if this has already been addressed but I haven't found any info in my searches (about how long it's taking).

sounds like the disc has scratches on it. try cleaning it with cd doctor
