Has anyone else experienced a problem FTP-ing into an Xbox after installing the X-B.I.T mod chip? I had a friend help me install the X-B.I.T mod chip on my Xbox this weekend and everything went smoothly when he used his WinXP laptop to FTP into my Xbox to setup and configure EvolutionX however I'm not having quite the same luck :(
I can FTP into my xbox but when I try to run "ls","dir","get","put" (from the terminal via a FTP program) I get the following error message (i've tried this with the built in FTP program along with NcFTP):

[####@keyizm][~]$ ncftp xbox

When I try using a GUI application I get the same error messages as detailed above from the terminal FTP application or a messaging saying "Command cannot be done" or "Noop is not initialized." Does anyone have any comments, ideas, or suggestions?

It's official, I'm an idiot :( The problem was resolved once I
disabled the built in firewall in OS X. I tried punching a hole in
my firewall for FTP (port 21) but that failed which ultimately
led me to disabling it all together. It seems like FTP initially
makes a request on port 21 however it gets handed off to
another port for the remainder of the session. Does anyone
else know what these other ports are? I'd like to be able to
keep my firewall enabled (by punching holes in my firewall for
these other ports) and not have to shut off my firewall every
time I want to FTP to my Xbox. Any comments, ideas, or
suggestions are welcome!

hey kayvee, i've copied & pasted a post i wrote on a different thread. give this a try and see if it helps. if not, post another response with more detail about your xbox software, mac software, and network setup.

-Repost:
If you've got EvolutionX installed on your Xbox, go to "Settings" under "System Utils" and be sure you assign the Xbox any IP on your subnet that's not being used, this can be any IP that matches your Mac/PC IP with the last octet changed, exp: 192.168.0.5 ("5" is the last octet in this example and the number that needs to be changed). Or, if you have a router or wireless router with DHCP enabled, you can configure EvolutinoX to pick up an IP from your router's DHCP by ensuring "Use Static IP" is set to "No" and "Network Setup" is set to "Yes". Also be sure that you have FTP enabled and the password is set to "xbox". Once all of this is done, you should be able to FTP to the IP listed in "Settings" using any Mac OS 9 FTP program (Fetch, Transmit, etc ...). Ohhhh, also be sure you've disabled any firewalls you have running on your OS 9 system, having one enabled could possible cause problems with FTP-ing (see my thread labeled "Problem FTP-ing to Xbox from a Mac " under Xbox - Software discussion). I hope this helps!
