www.cdrfaq.org, among others, gives the impression that 650 meg/74 min. CDR's are preferrable to 700 meg/80 min. This is fine, except for the fact that 74 min. CDR's are quickly becoming extinct here in the U.S. Do I give up on 74 min. CDR's and just go with 80 min.? Are 74 min. CDR's *really* better?

I have burned literally thousands of discs to virtually every kind of playback device and I have never found any performance difference in between 80min and 74min.

The old school is back. All hail the new http://BitBurners.com !

700 meg/80 min CD's mess up the samples in music so if you want highest quality audio I would use 74min.

Mess up samples? Could you explain in a bit more detail? Or provide a link?

80 min CDR have closer grooves. But the audio samples are unchanged. I have always checked my copies on 80 min CDR with EAC, and with the Yamaha CRW3200 EWK, they are identical to the originals. Not a sample is changed.
There was sometimes one or two wrong samples on a copy with the Yamaha 6416S.

Guess I was wrong sorry about that. Although I'm sure @r3mix or Hydro I saw claimed problems with 80min CD-R along time ago I can't find it now & was probably misinformation.
